Mariela Alvarado

Mi nombre es Mariela Alvarado, tengo dieciséis años y soy mitad puertorriqueña y mitad Ecuatoriana.

Nací el 29 de diciembre de 1992, en Springfield Massachusetts, y vivo actualmente en New Castle, Delaware. Vivo con mi hermano Lisandro de tres años, mi hermana Casandra de seis años, y mi mamá Sandra Hernández. Tengo dos hermanos mayores Armando de 22 y Frankie de  23 años. Durante mi crecimiento, vi a mi madre luchar contra tantos obstáculos, que la han hecho la mujer independiente fuerte que es hoy. Su ejemplo y las experiencias que he tenido, me están moldeando para ser una joven independiente, respetable, y responsable. Dicho esto, entiendo que cuando se quiere algo en vida se necesita trabajar duramente y perseguirlo porque nada se te entregará sin esfuerzo. Ahora he estado trabajando en el restaurante de la familia de McDonald's por casi dos años. Mi supervisor me dice que le gusta mi actitud y que él pudo darse cuenta después de mi entrevista que yo sé lo que quiero. Estoy agradecida de mi trabajo porque he aprendido cómo ser responsable y como trabajar bien con otros.

Estoy en el décimo grado y atiendo actualmente a la secundaria de William Penn. Allí estoy en el coro del concierto y en el junior Air Force. Mi meta para los planes futuros después de la graduación es entrar a la Fuerza Aérea e incorporar una carrera en el campo médico. Sé que debido a que puedo trabajar bien con la gente, no tendré ningún problema en tener éxito en mi carrera. Me gusta ayudar a otros en lo que puedo.

Creo que este certamen me abrirá muchas puertas, y me permitirá crecer mas como persona adulta. Agradezco todos mis amigos y familia por siempre apoyarme y estar allí por mí cuando mas los necesito. Pero sobre todo, agradezco a mi mamá porque con su ayuda soy la persona que soy hoy.

My name is Mariela Alvarado, I’m sixteen years old I am half Puerto Rican and Ecuadorian.

I was born on December 29, 1992 in Springfield Massachusetts and currently live in New Castle Delaware. I live with my three year old brother Lisandro, my six year old sister Casandra, and my mom Sandra Hernandez. I have two older brothers as well Armando is 22 and Frankie who is the oldest is 23 years old. While growing up I saw my mother struggle and go throw many obstacles, which has made her into the strong independent woman she is today. Her example and the experiences that I had are also molding me to become a young, independent, respectable, and responsible young lady. With that said, I realize that when you want something in life you need to work hard and pursue it because nothing will be handed in to you. I have been working at McDonald’s family restaurant for almost two years now. My manager tells me that he likes my attitude and that he could tell  right after my interview that I had a good head on my shoulders. I am thankful for my job because I have learned how to be responsible and work with other people. I am in the tenth grade and am currently attending William Penn High School there I am in the concert choir and in the junior Air Force. My goal for the future plans after graduation is to go into the Air Force and enter the medical field. I know that since I can interact well with other people I will have no problems succeeding in my career. I enjoy helping other as much as I can possibly can. I believe that this pageant will open many other doors for me and allow me to grow as an individual. I thank all my friends and family for always supporting me and being there for me when I needed them the most. But most of all, I thank my mom because with her support I am the person I am today.
