Sharonliz Cabrera

Mi nombre es Sharonliz Cabrera y naci en Arecibo, Puerto Rico el 5 de Mayo 1990.

Junto a mi madre, Elizabeth Camacho, mi hermano, Harry Cabrera, y mi hermana, Lorraine Cabrera, (originalmente residente de Puerto Rico) nos mudamos para Claymont, DE en 1992. Desde ese día, he aprendido el lenguaje Ingles y me he adaptado a la cultura Americana donde también he sobresalido académicamente y participado en muchas actividades.

Al mismo tiempo, nunca me olvido de mis tradiciones y cultura de Puerto Rico. Recientemente me gradué de la Escuela Superior de Howard de Tecnología como una estudiante muy próspera en la área de Academia de Financias y Negocios también como la primera hembra en la familia de graduarme. En mi segundo año en la escuela superior, yo gane el premio de la Sophmore contribuidora sobresaliente por mis estupendos logros en mi clase. Al siguiente año, competí en Business Professionals of America(BPA) en la competencia de empresaria y gane el primer lugar del estado. Siempre hice un balance en mi horario tan ocupado para mis estudios para tener un mejor lugar en la clase. Llegue a graduarme obteniendo cuarto lugar de los estudiantes de la clase del año 2008. También fui Presidente para el programa de Howard Leading Ladies Club. En el resultado de mis logros, he ganado muchas becas, incluyendo la X-traordinary Women beca y la Academia de Finanzas para ayudarme mientras estudio en el colegio de Goldey Beacom. Actualmente asisto al Colegio de Goldey-Beacom y estudio en el programa de Honores, Sistemas de Información de Contabilidad, y he terminado mi primer año con un promedio de 3.9 puntos de GPA.

La plataforma que estaré presentando durante este certamen es, promover la educación financiera en la comunidad Hispana. Yo quiero proporcionar el conocimiento financiero a jóvenes hispanos para evitar los mismos errores que tantos otros Hispanos ya han cometido. Yo creo que un joven financieramente culto, estará más equipado y con los instrumentos necesarios para manejar sus vidas para que puedan disfrutar del bienestar financiero a través de su madurez. Espero ser un mentor de otros estudiantes que no tienen las mismas influencias positivas que yo ha tenido, que son necesarias para llegar a ser un individuo culto y profesional.

My name is Sharonliz Cabrera and I was born on May 5, 1990 in Arecibo, Puerto Rico.

Along with my mother, Elizabeth Camacho, older brother, Harry Cabrera, and my younger sister, Lorraine Cabrera, (originally residing in Puerto Rico) I moved to Claymont, DE in 1992. Since then, I have learned the English language, adapted to the American culture, and have succeeded greatly in academics and extracurricular activities. At the same time, I never forget about my culture and traditions as a Puerto Rican. I recently graduated from Howard High School of Technology as a prosperous student of the Academy of Finance career area and as the first female to graduate from my family. In my sophomore year at Howard I was awarded the Outstanding Sophomore Contributor for my great achievements in my career area. The following year, I competed in Business Professionals of America (BPA) in the competition of Entrepreneurship and was awarded the first place trophy in the state. While balancing my hectic schedule, I always found time to keep up with my studies and maintained one of the highest ranks, placing fourth in the graduating class of 2008. I also served as the President of the Howard Leading Ladies Club, a club created for as a support system for the girls in my school to provide etiquette, business manners, and life skills. In result to my outstanding achievements, I have won numerous scholarships, including the X-tradordinary Women Scholarship and the Academy of Finance scholarship. Currently I am attending Goldey-Beacom College and majoring in the college’s Honors Program, Accounting Information Systems, and have finished my first year with a 3.9 grade point average. The platform I will be presenting during this pageant is promoting financial education in the Hispanic community. I would like to provide financial knowledge to Hispanic teens so they avoid making the same mistakes as other Hispanics make. I believe that a financially educated teen will be better equipped with the tools to manage their lives so that they could enjoy financial well-being throughout adulthood. I hope to one day mentor other students that do not have the same positive influences I have had that are necessary to become an educated and professional individual.
