Delaware State University Students Bring an Anti Bullying Forum to the ECHS

As a part of a Delaware State University Capstone Experience, DSU students will come together with students at the Early College High School (ECHS) to discuss bullying of students with disabilities. Recent attacks on students with disabilities in New Castle County inspired senior Mass Communications and Public Relations major Leandra Abreu to do a grassroots campaign against bullying. The Senior Capstone Experience is designed to allow DSU students to execute a semester-long project showcasing their understanding of both the theoretical and application aspects of their respective majors.

The forum will be lead by Dr. Claudio Cerullo, educator and founder of Teach Anti Bullying, Inc. Abreu is also working with Angeliz Marrero a teen bullying advocate who has appeared on the Dr. Drew show and various other local and national media outlets. “As a teen, I wanted to do something to make a difference and sometimes the best way to reach other kids is by having other young people talk to them,” says Marrero.

Dr. Judi Coffield, Director of the Early College High School says “this is a great opportunity for our early college high school students; we are looking forward to working with DSU.”
